Private Studios, Atlanta, GA, Heidelberg, Germany, and Tacoma, WA. 26 years of experience. Teach adults and teenagers on a weekly or biweekly basis. The concentration is on classical repertoire, plus sacred and musical theater. Studio recitals are offered three times a year, and guest teacher master classes are held annually. Students have consistently won awards at both state and regional competitions of NATS and MTNA, as well as the Classical Singer competition. High school students have been accepted at major universities to study voice, and post-university students have sung in concert halls and opera companies throughout the United States. Temple Emanu-El, Roswell, GA. 12 years as conductor for the High Holy Days Choir and other special music programs in the life of this large congregation. Coordinate music with the Cantor and rehearse and conducts the choir, which is a combination of professional and volunteer singers.
Columbus State University, Columbus, GA. Six years on voice faculty. Taught voice majors at all collegiate levels. Prepared students for juries and performances, teaching classical literature from all periods in Italian, English, French, German, and Latin. Taught studio classes and courses in English, Italian, German, and French Diction for Singers, which utilized the International Phonetic Alphabet.
Agnes Scott College, Decatur, GA. Three years on voice faculty. Taught voice students enrolled as both majors and minors at Agnes Scott, and prepared students for recitals, student performances, etc. Developed a program of study for each student as well as for the department. Taught a voice lab consisting of private students, which dealt with the rudiments of applying the International Phonetic Alphabet to singers’ diction. Also directed the Collegiate Chorale, an auditioned group of 40 women, which performed two to four major concerts per year and represented the college in concerts both in the community and elsewhere. The Collegiate Chorale has toured in Europe and Asia, as well as the United States. Major works included Britten’s Ceremony of Carols with harp, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Bach’s Christmas Oratorio (Parts I and II) with orchestra.
The Lovett School, Atlanta, GA. Five years on applied voice faculty. Taught applied voice lessons to students ranging in age from 14 to 18. These students performed publicly at least once a year, and more advanced students soloed for school events such as Chapel services, theater musicals, and choral concerts. Coordinated and rehearsed music events for the Georgia Literary Meet, which resulted in awards in three of six categories at the State Level in 1993.
Truett‑McConnell College, Cleveland, GA. One year on voice faculty. Taught voice majors at this junior college. Director of the opera workshop, which performed scenes from The Pirates of Penzance and The Bartered Bride. Taught Italian, Latin, and English Diction using the International Phonetic Alphabet.
Peachtree Presbyterian Church, Atlanta, GA. Three years as a Music Assistant. Directed two children's choirs (grades 2‑6), as featured on the recording, The Sounds of Peachtree. Assistant director of the high school choir and the three adult Chancel Choirs, as well as the Handbell Choir of this 10,000‑member church, the largest Presbyterian church in the USA.
Kennedy Catholic High School, Burien, WA. Half-year as Interim Choir Director during the maternity leave of the regular choral director. Conducted three choirs and assisted with the concert band. Rehearsed and produced the Christmas Concert, and prepared singers for All-State Chorus auditions, resulting in two of four students attending WMEA All-State Chorus.
Spartanburg High School, Spartanburg, SC. Half-year as Substitute Director of Choirs (of which there were two advanced, two beginning, and one ensemble) during the maternity leave of the regular choral director. Rehearsed and produced Spring Choral Program, and prepared students for All-State and Governors' Honors Program auditions, all while still a college student.
